Boiling over: Rising Water Temps Signal Even wilder Hurricane Seasons Ahead
The Gulf of Mexico’s water temperature has reached 86 degrees, a phenomenon that is fueling wild weather events such as the current Category 5-plus Hurricane Milton. More violent and frequent storms in the region are due to the Gulf having warmed at twice the rate of other large bodies of water since 1970, raising concerns that future hurricane seasons will become even more intense.
