Trillions Needed to Cure Climate Crisis, But Rich Nations slow to cough up cash
The upcoming COP29 environmental summit estimates it will cost trillions to address the climate crisis, with a goal of a $100 billion investment injection annually. Wealthy nations are the ones who are looked to for financial support for poorer countries, but much of the proposed aid is in the form of loans, which poorer nations often cannot afford to repay. Furthermore, leading polluters like the U.S., India and China are not meeting pollution reduction targets, making it unlikely that the trillion-dollar problem will be resolved without stronger global commitment.
