EV Sales Could Double In US

EV sales were almost 10% of new car sales in the US during the third quarter of 2025. People rushed to get the $7,500 federal tax credit before it expired. When it went away on September 30, EV sales as a share of new-car sales dropped to 4%. With oil at $100 a barrel, EV sales have jumped in Europe and Asia. If gas prices rise above $5, EVs will become more popular in the US and could return to 10% of all new-car sales. That means they will double compared to much of last year.
