Suing Donald Trump To Save Wind Energy

Wind energy company Orsted is suing the Trump Administration for blocking the completion of its wind farm off the coast of Rhode Island. The investment for the project was to total $6.2 billion. Based on media experts, the project was 75% finished. Then. Trump’s people took away the permits. The decision itself was made by the Interior Department.

The new suit, bought in federal court, says the government acted in “bad faith”. They want their permits reinstated. And, that should save Orsted, although some investors have propped it up recently.

Wind Off Rhode Island

Can Orsted win? The Administration cannot control the decision. However, its war on wind energy will continue. Part of this is the administration’s master plan of taking everything and anything that runs against them into court. That can draw a fight out for years. And, the government has nearly limitless resources for lawyers. Opponents do not.

Trump’s people have ended the operations of other large wind projects beyond the Orsted construction.

Wind is the energy equivalent of Harvard. If the administration can pound the nation’s latest university into the ground, the wind energy fight is,, by comparison, as important. The Trump playbook is to shoot first, and ask questions later.
