The new federal budget bill appears ready to be moved to the White House for signature. That will put another nail in the coffin of green energy and lower greenhouse gas emissions in the US. Several members of the British Parliament have stated that the nation cannot afford the funds needed to remain green when all other pressing government matters are taken into account. Money intended to be lent to third-world nations to help them achieve their own climate goals has not materialized.

Oil lobbyists could flood COP30. They will promise to help create a green future. However, in the US, they have been given a license for more exploration and production. One of the leaders of the gathering said that the climate crisis said “Climate is our biggest war.” If nothing positive comes out of the meeting, the war is in the process of being lost.

As for promises by the world’s largest tech companies to become net zero, they have moved in the other direction. AI server farms may consume more electricity than any other segment of the economy within two to three years. Their green plans have been canceled.

India Coal

While China has made significant progress in reducing its reliance on coal, it remains the world’s largest user of coal. India is second, and its efforts to become green are minimal in comparison to the energy consumption required for its rapidly expanding economy.

Green is dying, and there does not seem to be an army of nations and companies to save it.
