A winter storm is moving across the middle of the country, with several inches of snowfall forecast to accumulate throughout Utah and Colorado. Meanwhile, widespread rain and gusty winds are forecast for much of the eastern seaboard. Major cities like New York and Jersey City will see some precipitation, while Knoxville is forecast to receive more than an inch and a half of rain. A look at data from the National Weather Service's Weather Prediction Center reveals the cities where it will rain the most this Thanksgiving.

To determine the cities that will get the most rain this Thanksgiving, Climate Crisis 247 reviewed Quantitative Precipitation Forecast data from the National Weather Service's Weather Prediction Center. Cities with at least 25,000 residents were ranked based on the total precipitation projected to fall on November 28, 2024. Supplemental data on forecast average air temperature are based on raster data from NOAA’s National Digital Forecast Database, while data on historical monthly temperature normals for November are from NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information.
