Climate Programs That May Get Gutted By The Trump Administration

On Monday, the Office of Management and Budget issued a memo ordering a temporary freeze on nearly $3 trillion in federal grants and funding. While a federal judge temporarily blocked the order the following day, and the White House rescinded the memo in turn, the memo caused concern among organizations dependent on federal dollars and highlighted hundreds of major government programs that may now be under extra scrutiny by the Trump administration.

The memo included a list of more than 2,500 programs that the Trump administration is placing under review to ensure that federal resources are not being used to “advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies,” per the original document. The list of programs now under scrutiny includes dozens of agencies focusing on climate change, energy efficiency, weather hazard mitigation, and other green initiatives. A list of the biggest climate-related programs in the memo could outline future tensions between the fast-growing green energy sector and the Trump administration.
To determine the biggest climate-related programs that may be under scrutiny by the Trump administration, Climate Crisis 247 reviewed spreadsheet data from the Office of Management and Budget. Climate-related programs highlighted as being under review by the Trump administration were ranked based on annual obligation totals for the most recent fiscal year.
