In the United States, SUVs rose from 11% of all EV car sales in 2018 to 65% of all EV sales in 2023, while pickup trucks grew from less than 1% of all EV sales to 4%. Manufacturers like Ford, GMC, and Rivian have introduced new models to the market with fuel efficiency specs that rival smaller, lighter EVs from years past. A look at EPA testing data reveals the EV trucks and minivans with the highest fuel efficiency.

To determine the EV trucks and minivans with the best MPGe, Climate Crisis 247 reviewed data on fuel economy characteristics from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for model years 1984 through 2025. Fully electric pickup trucks and minivans were ranked based on combined city and highway fuel efficiency. Supplemental data on average city and highway range on a full charge and the time to fully charge a battery at 240 volts are also from the EPA. All data are based on vehicle testing done at EPA’s National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory in Ann Arbor, Michigan as well as test results submitted to EPA by vehicle manufacturers.
