This past year saw several major snowstorm events throughout the United States. While many of the snowiest parts of the country received below-average snowfall, 2024 brought record-setting snow to places less accustomed to winter weather like Tennessee and Nevada. Loudon County, Tennessee, received more than 10 inches of snow in one day in mid-January, setting a record in the county. In total, 18 counties in 11 different states set one-day snowfall records in 2024. A closer look at NOAA data reveals the counties that set one-day snowfall records this year.

To determine the counties that set snowfall records this year, Climate Crisis 247 reviewed data on one-day snowfall records from the NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information. Counties that received record-setting one-day snowfall amounts in 2024 were ranked based on total one-day snowfall.
