While millions of Americans are preparing for barbecues and other outdoor celebrations this Labor Day weekend, a major storm system is threatening to dump multiple inches of rain throughout the South.

Dozens of major cities stretching from Texas to Florida will receive more than two inches of rain. The National Weather Service has issued a series of flood warnings in the Ark-La-Tex region where Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas adjoin. A closer look at the data reveals the cities forecast to get the most rain this holiday weekend.

To determine the cities forecast to get the most rain this weekend, Climate Crisis 247 reviewed data on quantitative precipitation forecasts from the NOAA’s National Digital Forecast Database. Cities were ranked based on total forecast cumulative rainfall for the period August 29 to 31, 2025. Only cities with at least 50,000 were considered. Population data is from the U.S. Census Bureau.
