A winter storm is moving across the middle of the country, with several inches of snowfall forecast to accumulate throughout Colorado and Utah. Smaller mountain cities throughout Montana are also forecast to accumulate significant snowfall. A closer look at data from NOAA’s National Digital Forecast Database reveals which cities will see the most snowfall this Thanksgiving.

To determine the cities that will get the most snowfall this Thanksgiving, Climate Crisis 247 reviewed data on cumulative snowfall forecasts from the NOAA’s National Digital Forecast Database. Cities with at least 25,000 residents were ranked based on the total amount of snowfall forecast to accumulate in the 72 hours from November 26 to November 28, 2024. Supplemental data on forecast average air temperature are based on raster data from the NDFD, while data on historical monthly temperature normals for November are from the NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information and are at the county level.
