Tropical Disturbance to Deliver Strong Wind Gusts to These Cities

The National Hurricane Center is currently tracking two storm systems with potential to develop in the next few days. While one disturbance is forming over the Caribbean, another in the eastern Atlantic is expected to push strong winds toward the Florida coast.

While wind gusts are typically strongest in the Midwest and Great Plains, where flat terrain allows storms winds to blow without obstruction, parts of Florida are forecast to experience the nation’s strongest winds in the coming days. Cities like Jacksonville are forecast to see gusts over 20 miles per hour, while communities farther south could see even stronger bursts. A closer look at the data reveals the cities where wind gusts will be most intense tomorrow.

To determine the cities where wind gusts will be strongest today, Climate Crisis 247 reviewed forecast data from the NOAA’s National Digital Forecast Database. Cities were ranked based on maximum forecast wind gust speed for October 7, 2025. Only cities with at least 40,000 residents were considered.
