While the EV business is weak in America, the same is not valid in China, the world’s largest car market. One of its medium-sized EV makers will go public. Demand is such that its price will be at the top of the expected range. Chinese electric vehicle maker Zeekr’s IPO price will likely be $21, higher than many investors expected. That means when it is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, it will raise $441 million. The company has been partially financed by larger China EV maker Geely. Climatecrisis247 believes this shows that the rotation from gas-powered cars to EVs continues rapidly in China. Many of these companies are prepared to sell vehicles in the EU and US. Despite current tariffs, they are likely to become direct competitors to global car giants, including America’s GM and Ford.

Michigan’s Attorney General plans to sue fossil fuel companies for the damage they have done to the state’s environment, and that these companies continue to do so. In an interview in The Detroit News, Attorney General Dana Nessel said, “I don’t know that there’s a bigger issue facing the state of Michigan than climate change. We are talking about billions and billions of dollars in damages and we’re already starting to see that on a day to day basis. We know this is only going to get worse.” Climatecrisis247 believes that Michigan is among several states, cities, and counties that have sued fossil fuel companies, mainly oil producers, over environmental damage. The suits face two problems. One is to prove that the companies were aware of the damage they were doing for decades. The other is establishing a direct relationship between their actions and harm to people and businesses. Neither is an easy case to make.

Why Are Oceans Getting Hotter?

The oceans are heating up faster than scientists had forecast, and the reasons behind this are not easy for scientists to explain. According to the BBC, Hayley Fowler, professor of climate change impacts at Newcastle University in the UK, said “The step-change in ocean temperatures over last year is huge. The fact we can’t simulate these step-change increases and understand why it’s happening is terrifying.” However, experts are almost certain that this heat causes rising sea levels and powerful hurricanes. Climatecrisis247 believes experts cannot always prove cause and effect as powerful storms, droughts, and floods increase worldwide. The body of evidence taken as a whole is indisputable.

Social Media Effects Views Of Climate Crisis

Are AI and social media making it more difficult for the public to understand and believe in climate change? MIT Press published a paper titled “Generative AI and Social Media May Exacerbate the Climate Crisis.” Its authors wrote, “…there is considerable evidence that social media is reducing humanity’s ability to focus on the climate crisis. Social media is partially responsible for destroying our collective ability to concentrate and do deep work.” The authors added that social media can spread misleading and pessimistic information about climate change and the chances it can be halted. Climatecrisis247 believes that is another in a line of methods to either convince people that climate change is an illusion or that it is not important enough for people to focus on as among the most critical issues of the day.
