Al Gore Comes Back From Vacation
Al Gore was America’s climate champion, particularly when he starred in the most famous film ever made about the environment. “An Inconvenient Truth” was released in 2006, which means it was ahead of its time. It won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. Gore traveled the world presenting the same content. Within a few years, he was less visible.
While Gore was away, he served on the board at Apple. He made at least tens of millions of dollars on his stock options.
Gore, for some reason, has reappeared at the age of 77.
Gore has returned to attack the Trump Administration’s climate policies and its dismantling of most US climate agencies. The second part of his attack is because the US has gone to Europe to suggest that the nations there kill their climate initiatives as well. Trump argues that the cash could be invested better elsewhere.
Important New Study
Gore also marveled at the fact that China has become the world’s leader in energy adoption and development. In 2006, it was the world’s largest polluter by far. The comments came when his Generation Investment Management released its “The Sustainability Trends Report 2025”. This, in turn, is being released a few days before New York’s annual Climate Week.
Gore made two other important sets of comments. One explores the role of the US in the world’s combating of climate change. “The American reversal raises a critical question for the rest of the world: does ambitious global climate action require the Americans, or can it survive without them?”. The other is a deadline. “The chance to restore the world’s momentum on climate change will come in November, when governments are due to make new national pledges under the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. “
Gore wants to know who plans to go and who plans to stay.
