The new 2025 Escalade-V has a 682 HP engine—the 6.2-liter supercharged engine is handmade. “The Escalade has always been about bold American craftsmanship, technology and performance, and has continuously raised the standard of full-size SUV luxury since it was introduced 25 years ago,” John Roth, vice president of Cadillac, said. He neglected to mention the effects on the environment.

The new Cadillac is expected to cost $152,000, putting it at the top price among American-made SUVs. However, Cadillac is unlikely to sell many of them.

Mary Barra, GM’s CEO, has repeatedly discussed GM’s plan to “go green”. She recently made a slip about the plans. At some point, GM had said it would be able to produce one million EVs by the end of next year. She changed her mind, according to CNBC, “We won’t get to a million just because the market’s not developing, but it will get there,” EV demand may get some help from new charging stations.

While GM may get there, the new Cadillac is a step in the wrong direction.
