Cloud-Sourcing: Yes, Microplastics lurk in those fluffy formations above you
Microplastics are everywhere. They have been found in the deepest parts of the ocean and run through the bodies of countless humans. But those are not their only homes: Recently, microplastics have been found in the clouds above America and elsewhere.

Penn State recently released a research paper titled “Microplastics impact cloud formation, likely affecting weather and climate.” The operative word at the moment is “likely,” meaning that there may eventually be an answer, but no one can say if it is benign or bad.
Miriam Freedman, professor of chemistry at Penn State and senior author on the paper, said, “It’s now clear that we need to have a better understanding of how they’re interacting with our climate system, because we’ve been able to show that the process of cloud formation can be triggered by microplastics.”
The team that did the work looked at low density polyethylene (LDPE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Their conclusion after the work was that it was not “clear” what the experiments showed.
Another pollution problem to be confronted.
