Fight To Save Climate Is Falling Apart

Some of the world’s largest nations have cut their plans to help save the environment. The same is true of a number of the world’s largest companies, particularly those in the tech sector.
The lack of support has occurred as the climate crisis worsens. According to The New York Times, “The world is getting hotter, faster. A report published last week found that human-caused global warming is now increasing by 0.27 degrees Celsius per decade.” A statement from The Guardian was worse “This is a fight for life. And like all fights, you need a tremendous amount of bravery to take it on.”
US Cuts Commitments
While several nations have reduced their support and national budgets for combating global warming, the US remains at the top of the list. President Trump recently signed an executive order that will ultimately lead to America’s withdrawal from the Paris Agreement. He has sharply limited the building of offshore wind farms. He will likely cut tax credits for residential solar installations and EVs.
At the same time, he has made it easier for oil companies to drill new wells. Among other things, he has begun to open up federal lands for exploration by the world’s largest oil companies.
While the number of companies has reversed their green commitments, the fact that the US tech companies have is particularly alarming. Most said they would be net zero within a decade. Their use of AI server farms, which are electricity hungry, has changed that.
