Global EV Sales Soar 25%, Big Deal For The Industry
The sales of EVs worldwide jumped 25% to 17 million . For matters of perspective that is about the total number of new cars sold in the US in 2024. Most of the sales were in China, where the burgeoning industry has given rise to over half a dozen manufacturers, led by giant BYD which is second only to Tesla in global EV deliveries based on last year’s numbers. Some of these may not survive.

*EVs And The Future Of Pollution
Sales in the US and Europe tend to lag terribly. In Germany, they actually fell last year. EV sales were about 8% of new car sales in the US in 2024.
China sales may slow this year and go forward. The Chinese government could cut price breaks and the first adopter market could be saturated.
US EV deals have found that the best way to sell EVs is via leases, which can cut the cost of ownership by half on the basis of monthly payments
Global Car Companies Lag
Several global car companies have almost dropped out of the market and have invested tens of millions of dollars. This list is led by Ford and VW.
2025 will be a watershed year. The question is whether people who want EV already bought them?
