Global car companies will miss their emission forecast, and their results will differ greatly from their goals. According to Bloomberg, “Several of the world’s largest carmakers, including Toyota Motor Corp. and General Motor Co., are unlikely to meet new US greenhouse gas emission targets by 2032.” The original analysis came from the non-profit Greenpeace. Strong EV sales won’t be enough to make up for fossil fuel engine emissions. Climatecrisis247 believes that these figures are no surprise. Even the Biden Administration has lowered its emission targets. Car companies face the fact that most of their sales and profits come from SUVs and pickups, which tend to have big engines.  Revolutionary charming stations may help.

International Issue –Olympic Dirty Water

Climate change has made Atlantic hurricanes more powerful, which affects US weather. Around the world, the same thing happens with monsoons, which affect the weather in India and Southeast Asia. According to The Economist, “Global warming appears to be making the monsoon more variable. And as temperatures rise further, the monsoon’s extremes could become more damaging.” Another challenge is that storms are more likely to cause major downpours in a brief period. Climatecrisis247 believes there is no reason global warming would not affect hurricane-like storms in one part of the world and not another. Climate change has caused droughts, hurricanes, flooding, and heat across the globe.  In the US, some people cannot get insurance against these storms.

US May Step Away From Climate Change

If Republicans win The White House, and perhaps the Senate and House of Representatives, there is an excellent chance that efforts to slow climate change will no longer be a priority. Policies that favor fossil fuel companies will likely be part of that policy. Climatecrisis247 believes this is not a surprise, even though the media continues covering it aggressively. One immediate result is that America’s greenhouse gas emissions will rise. Since China and the US are the world’s largest polluters, these new policies will undermine climate change slowing goals.

Energy Bills Surge

The heat caused by climate change has triggered a sharp rise in residential energy bills in the hottest parts of the US. Since extreme heat spreads, it affects a growing part of the country. For people with little or modest income, money for other essentials becomes less and less. Food and Water Watch states, “Nationwide, skyrocketing energy bills force families to choose between keeping the lights on and other essentials. Climate disasters will make matters worse.” Climatecrisis247 believes these problems affected people who live in southern states and the Southwest the most. As 100-degree F days are more common from New York to the Dakotas, many people face this problem.
