The Washington Post wrote that the effects of solar storms were wonderful. “The major disturbance of Earth’s magnetosphere caused stunning aurora displays across northern Europe and very low latitudes in the U.S.”

In Tampa, the case was completely different. The Tampa Bay Times reports, “Spectrum internet service was down in parts of Tampa Bay Saturday morning, according to reports from residents, social media and complaints logged on downdetector.com.”
USAToday pointed out, “Anything including communications, the electric power grid, radio and satellite operations are threatened by the looming storm, which could trigger blackouts and disrupt navigation systems.”
One question remains unanswered: Does damage to the Earth’s atmosphere worsen the problems? As the solar storms continue into next year and perhaps become more powerful, that is an important question.
