Tariffs will hit solar, wind, and battery technologies hard. An analysis from Semafor shows that most of the damage will be done as tariffs hit important from Vietnam, China, and Mexico.

Thirty-eight percent of solar modules come from Vietnam. The tariffs on those will be 46%.

Thirty-four percent of solar PV cells come from Malaysia. The tariffs on those will be 24%

Sixty percent of wind-blade and hubs come from Mexico. Tariffs on those will be 25%.

Sixty-two percent of lithium-ion batteries come from China. The tariffs on those will be 34%.

Wind energy in the US has been almost obliterated by earlier decisions by the Trump Administration.

Wind Energy Already In Trouble

Solar and wind, in particular, are supposed to be the future of electricity generation. Electricity demand has spiked and will continue as more AI server farms, Bitcoin mining, and air conditioner use come online.

The only way to replace these technologies as demand grows is via fossil fuels.
