Global Fossil Fuel Expansion Endangers Climate Goals
Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis 24/7, reported that governments worldwide are expanding fossil fuel production despite pledges to reduce reliance on coal, gas, and oil. A review of global plans shows that by 2030, fossil fuel output could more than double the safe levels needed to limit warming to 1.5°C. McIntyre warns this expansion makes the prospect of slowing climate change increasingly unlikely.
