New Projections Show Massive Increase in Global Heat-Related Deaths
Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis 24/7, reports that a new scientific paper warns climate change could cause up to 500,000 annual deaths from heat-related causes within 15 years — double previous WHO estimates. The projections are based on potential global temperature increases of 3–5°C by the end of the century, with especially severe impacts expected in Europe, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and coastal areas. McIntyre emphasizes that even these alarming numbers may underestimate the real toll, as more regions become uninhabitable due to rising heat.
