NFL Games Face Snow Cancellations
In 2022, an NFL game between the Detroit Lions and the Buffalo Bills was moved to Detroit due to a blizzard in a part of New York State bordering Lake Erie. In 2024, a Bills game against the Pittsburgh Steelers was moved back several days. Lake-effect snow hit Buffalo last week, bringing over a foot of snow. Weather rarely causes cancellations of professional sports games, but the risk is growing. This risk is in two regions. One is the southwest, where temperatures in Phoenix can hit 110 degrees in mid-summer. The other is the Great Lake region. Climatecrisis247 looked at risks next month. Douglas A. McIntyre, Editor-In-Chief of Climatecrisis247, explains.
