The heat is on — and off: Warmer Winter Could cut Fossil Fuel Use and Boost EVs
With this winter expected to be warmer than usual, according to the U.S. Weather Service, the milder temperatures will likely lead to reduced fossil fuel consumption, as less heating will be required, a development that could positively impact the environment by decreasing the burning of heating oil, natural gas, and coal. Additionally, the warmer weather may benefit electric vehicle adoption, as EVs often face charging challenges in cold weather, and a mild winter might reduce concerns about EV battery performance and encourage more people to consider purchasing electric cars.
