Hurricane season ends on November 30, but primarily because of extremely warm water in the Atlantic off the southeastern U.S. and in the Gulf of Mexico, storms could occur as late as mid-December.Â
The latest major December hurricane in the last 20 years was Epsilon, which hit Bermuda when it moved across the southern Atlantic from November 29 to December 8, 2005. That record of a late-season hurricane will be broken, and probably soon.
