Longest Lasting Cars Are Gas Guzzler

iSeeCars has put out its list of the cars that stay on the road the longest. It is based on the percentage of the models that are on the road for 250,000 miles or longer. Most have large, fuel-inefficient engines, which may be why drivers stick with gas powered cars. Gas prices are low and could get lower.

The car most likely to stay on the road the longest is Toyota’s pickup, the Tundra. The odds of that these are only road over 250,000 miles is 36.6%. ISeeCars looked at data on 420 million vehicles. The Tundra’s gas mileage is 18 MPG city and 23 MPG for highway driving

The next car on the list is the Toyota Sequoia which is the Japanese car company’s largest SUV–36.4% of these are on the road for more than 250,000 miles. It gets 21 MPG in city driving and 24 MPG on the highway.

Big, Heavy Vehicles

Third among these vehicles is Toyota4Runner, another of the company’s SUVs. It gets 16 MPG in the city and 19 MPG on the highway. A total of 26.8% of these are on the road after 250,000 miles. 

Next, the Toyota Tacoma, of which 26.7% are on the road after 250,000 miles. The Tacoma is the company’s smaller pickup truck. It gets 21 MPG in the city, and 26 MPG on the highway.

Chevy’s Biggest Vehicle

Among the top 10 on the 250,000 plus miles list is among the largest and heaviest cars for sale in the US. Of the Chevy Suburbans, 22% are on the road after 250,000 miles. It gets 21 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway. High gas prices might help EV sales.
