more And More People Want more And More Coal

Coal was supposed to be phased out as a means to significantly improve global warming paces. It hasn’t happened, at all.

Demand, as a matter of fact, is rising quickly. According to CNBC, “On top of that, the world’s coal capacity reached a new record high of nearly 2,175 gigawatts in 2024.”
Demand is particularly strong in the world’s third largest polluter. Coal generates almost half the electricity in India. There is no indication that demand is flagging. Despite a rise in alternative energy, China likely remains that world’s largest user of coal, and that may continue.
China’s Needs
“Clean energy has grown to account for 40% of China’s electricity capacity, boosted by years of subsidies, but Beijing now believes the cost of projects has dropped to the point where they are economically viable without government backing,” reports Semafor. However, the hunger for electricity is not just a problem in the US. China hopes to win the AI race, or at least stay even with America. Electricity use, therefore, will be hockey stick in both places.
There is very little evidence that green energy is growing at a pace worldwide to cut the need for fossil fuels. And, in nations like India there is not, nor will there soon be, any replacement
