While the heaviest precipitation is expected in parts of the Great Basin, northern Rockies, and the Utah Wasatch Front, the system is forecast to soak cities across the Intermountain West. The National Weather Service has issued flood watches in multiple states, warning that storm runoff could inundate streams and rivers, particularly in mountainous terrain and urban areas with poor drainage. A closer look at the data reveals the cities forecast to receive the most rain in the next 72 hours.
To determine the cities forecast to get the most rain this week, Climate Crisis 247 reviewed data on quantitative precipitation forecasts from the NOAA’s National Digital Forecast Database. Cities were ranked based on total forecast cumulative rainfall for October 15 to 17, 2025. Only cities with at least 10,000 residents were considered. Population data is from the U.S. Census Bureau.
