ARKA recently issued a research paper titled “Ranking Top Sustainable Travel Destinations for Summer 2024.” The data used to create the ranking came from information about the percentage of green spaces, bike friendliness, and tram network coverage. The study included 50 cities. Additionally, the study looked at the national policies of the countries in which the cities are located. Taken together, these we used to create an index.
Berlin topped the list with a score of 76.12. The authors wrote, “This high score is thanks to its 51% green spaces and also for its large tram network of 190 km and bike friendliness.”
The city with the lowest score of 50 was Bristol, in the UK.
