U.S. Is Exporting Extinction
According to The World Economic Forum, the U.S. and other large developing nations are destroying the environment of poorer nations by importing agricultural products.

In a story titled “Wealthy nations outsourcing deforestation are ‘exporting extinction,’.” the authors point out that “Some of these nations are destroying 15 times more biodiversity internationally than within their own borders.” The US is first on the list, followed by China, Japan, Germany, and France.
Food Imbalance
One of the paper’s authors, Prof David Wilcove, said: “By importing food and timber, these developed nations are essentially exporting extinction.” The study looked at 24 nations with over 7,500 forest-dependent species. The authors wrote in the Nature article used to write the analysis.”Globalization increasingly allows countries to externalize the environmental costs of land use, including biodiversity loss.”
The suggestion for a possible cure would be more cooperation between importing and exporting nations. This seems unlikely based on the current relationships between rich and poor nations.
