Florida Faces Rising Wildfire Threat as Drought Conditions Intensify
Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis 24/7, reports from New York City that drought conditions in Florida, especially around Orlando, have worsened significantly, reaching a category three out of five according to the Drought Monitor. McIntyre warns that this raises the risk of wildfires in an area typically unprepared for such threats — and just weeks before hurricane season. He explains that as drought spreads to non-traditional regions across the U.S., wildfire risks surge while the capacity to manage them remains dangerously low.
