Tens of Thousands of Plastic Pellets Pollute Waterways
Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis 24/7, reported on the International Plastic Pellet Count Report by Environment America. The study revealed 49,256 plastic pellets collected from over 200 sites worldwide, including 29 U.S. states, Washington, D.C., and 14 countries. McIntyre highlighted that these pellets, known as nurdles, are the raw materials for plastic products and pose serious environmental and health risks—since nanoplastics are now found in oceans, food, and even human bodies, potentially causing heart and brain disease.
