Thanksgiving Hurricane? AccuWeather Warns of Potential Late-Season Storms in Gulf
AccuWeather reports that Thanksgiving could bring an unusual risk: a late-season hurricane. Despite the traditional end of hurricane season, abnormally high water temperatures in the Gulf—reaching 86°F, and even surpassing 100°F south of the Florida Keys—may extend storm activity. Meteorologists predict at least two more significant storms before November ends, posing a potential threat to Florida, Houston, and other Gulf areas. Doug McIntyre, editor-in-chief of Climate Crisis, notes that this high temperature in the South Atlantic’s waters could intensify any developing tropical storms. Travelers heading to holiday destinations near the Gulf should consider the potential for severe weather disruptions.
