New York And Washington Face Major Flooding

The FT has released a new study of “sitting duck” cities. These cities are at risk of wildfires, heavy rain, hurricanes, or other natural disasters. The study includes the entire world.
Two cities in the US are on the East Coast: New York City and Washington. Washington, Houston, and Dallas are at risk for flash flooding because of what are called “short, intense downpours.” New York is at risk for what has been labeled “flash flooding.”
Map Of Climate Crisis Spreads
The fact that New York and Washington are on the list is troubling. It is not unusual for these lists to include New Orleans, Miami, Houston, and Los Angeles. The presence of the two East Coast cities shows just how quickly climate change trends have threatened new parts of the US.
New York and Washington are part of a new climate crisis roadmap pattern. Hail and tornadoes, once primarily found in Tornado Alley, now occur north and east of that area. Wildfires used to be an issue in California and Texas. In the last month, there has been a large wildfire in New Jersey. Last year, the fires briefly reached parts of New York City.
How To Pay For Emergencies
No one knows how large the American climate threat map will become. Each time it spreads, so does the threat to life and substantial increase in the financial costs of destruction, insurance, and people to handle emergencies. In some parts of the country, emergency costs cannot be absorbed. The federal government is less likely to fund these now.
Anyone who wonders how fast climate change progresses must look at Washington and New York.
