Washington, Pittsburgh, Nashville, Vermont Have Their Hottest Year
2024 was not just the hottest year in history. It was the hottest year in a number of places, which include some of America’s major cities. The data on these cities comes from Axios.
*Heat Around The World
Many of the cities that had their hottest years were in the northern tier of states. This included Milwaukee, Burlington, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Chicago. Further south this also included Washington.
The news means that cities will begin to make adjustments, or these adjustments will be made for them. They will need more centers to act as shelters for the homeless during the hottest days. They will need to plan for more electricity demand because of air conditioning
The air conditioning issues may become a major problem. AI has started to eat massive amounts of electricity in some parts of the US, sharply cutting supply. There will be, or is already, competition for this source of energy.
Health Problems
The heat will also affect the health of people in many of these areas. This will increase the cost of healthcare as it already has in cities which include Phoenix.
The hotter it gets around America, the more it affects the economy.
