Temperatures Rise in 234 of 241 US Cities
According to Climate Central, “Average spring temperatures increased in 234 (97% of 241) cities analyzed since 1970.” The average increase in the 234 was 2.4 degrees F.

The “top spring warming locations” were Reno (6.8°F), El Paso (6.4°F), Las Vegas (6.1°F), Tucson (5.8°F), Albany (5.3°F), Chattanooga (5.3°F) and Phoenix (5.3°F).
Calfornia Drought
The increases have several hazardous effects. Among them are higher wildfire risks, which have already been seen in California; “Stressed Western water supplies,” which are part of the 1,200-year drought in the area; and an increase in mosquitoes and other insects, which can lead to human diseases.
Global warming, as the 2025 Spring Package from Climate Central shows, can be subtle. While most climate observations are focused on flooding, hurricanes, wildfires, and rising coastal waters, this data shows the slow progress over 55 years. The results are just as important.
Heat-Trapped Pollution
Climate Central concludes, “Like all other seasons, spring is getting warmer across the U.S. National warming trends reflect global warming caused by heat-trapping pollution mainly from burning coal, oil, and methane gas for electricity, transportation, heating, and more.”
