The Paris Accord, meant to join the world in a massive effort to stop or slow global warming was signed by nearly 200 nations. The only hold outs were Iran, Yemen and Libya. The US has just joined that list.

*Plan For Energy Dominance

*A Big Future For Oil Drilling

According to the BBC, ‘The US will now have to wait a year before it will be officially out of the pact. The White House announced a “national energy emergency”, outlining a raft of changes that will reverse US climate regulations and boost oil and gas production.’ However, the agreement is not binding.

In making the announcement, the White House stated, “In recent years, the United States has purported to join international agreements and initiatives that do not reflect our country’s values or our contributions to the pursuit of economic and environmental objectives. “

The decision is added to several others that will pull the US away from green interest and toward fossil fuel interests. The Administration has also banned wind farms and other wind-based projects from federal land leases.

EV Tax Credit Gone

Additionally, the Administration will end the $7,500 to $3,750 EV tax credit. This credit makes EVs more affordable during a time when they are, on average, $10,000 more that gas powered engine

The Paris Accord decision could cause other nations to claim that the entire agreement has lost its teeth. The US may not be the last nation to walk away.
