Maine Forecast To Have Soaring Temperatures

The NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center has released its August/September/October forecasts for both temperature and rain. The one area expected to have normal is Maine, which is usually one of the coldest states in America.

Maine has been hot this year. In late June, temperatures hit record levels. In some cities it was 100 degrees F or higher. Manie’s average high temperature in the summer is 78 degrees.

Canadian Wildfires

Oddly enough, one primary contributor to high temperatures is the smoke from Canadian wildfires that has trapped heat. These fires burn year round, although they put off more smoke in summer than in the other months.

The temperatures are not just an anomaly. The period of extreme heat has occurred for several years.

The area of the US adjacent to Maine is also expected to have higher than average temperature according to the NOAA. This area covers Vermont through Maryland, and all of the large east coast cities.

Not a single part of the nation is expected to be cooler than normal over the period.
