The Carbon Majors’ new database was released today. It shows how the world’s biggest oil, gas, coal, and cement producers have caused global carbon emissions from 1854 to 2022, including the 2016 to 2022 timeframe.

Based on emissions from 2016 to 2022, Exxon tops the list of investor-owned companies, followed by Shell, BP, and Chevron.

Axios states, “The new data makes clear how most of the global CO2 emissions since 2016 are from a small number of high emitters that are not slowing their production in a manner more consistent with Paris guidelines.”

The report comes at a time when large oil companies are pushing back against environmental regulations and climate change organizations.

Recently the head of Exxon. The Hill reports, “Exxon Mobil Corp. CEO Darren Woods told editors from Fortune that the world has “waited too long” to begin investing in a broader suite of technologies to slow planetary heating.”

In all likelihood, the list will not change much over the next few years
