Cheap Batteries Become Key To US EV Success
There is a theory that is almost certainly true. Cheaper components in EVs would bring down US EV sticker prices. EV prices are a primary hurdle to buyers.
New Flynt van batteries cost 40,000 euros. However, they allow these vehicles to operate for much less money. A China-based executive of BMW and now CEO of Flynt Daniel Kirchert said, according to The Information, that this is his point of view. “And since they take advantage of Chinese EV prices, they will also cost 30% less than competing electric vans made in the U.S. and Europe, he said.”
Battery cost and battery range. Charging stations. Price. The walls against adoption. Flynt brings down the cost of operation. Gas. Oil. Maintenance.
What America Wants
Experts say that the threshold for wide adoption of EVs in America is a sub-$25,000 sticker price. So far, no EV is close to that. Elon Musk says he will build one, and then he does not. Legacy car companies are desperate to get there.
The only sub-$25,000 cars built in volume worldwide are those built in China. And, while there may be many reasons EV sales are brisk there, price is certainly among them.
If Flynt tech can be adopted in the US, it is the change the industry needs
