According to Teslarati, Tesla sold 633,000 vehicles last year in the US. Total EV sales were about 1.3 million units, which was 8.1% of all new car sales. Behind Tesla, GM sold 114,432 EVs and Ford sold 97,865.

The Model Y is Tesla’s least expensive SUV. The Model 3 is its least expensive sedan. The Model S is its expensive sedan which can sell for as much as $88,000. Tesla’s expensive SUV is the Model X which is also priced for just under $90,000.

Why People Don’t Buy EVs

There are two concerns about Tesla’s future in America. The first is that EV sales in general will be slow, as they were in 2024. People still worry about range, number of charging stations, tire wear, and battery use in cold weather.

The second concern is that one or more of the legacy car companies will launch a car, or cars, that are very attractive to the car buying public .In the meantime, Tesla will be hard to catch.
