Based on current weather reports and posts on X, Ahvaz, Iran, had a temperature of 109°F at 11:31 EDT. Kuwait City, Al Ahmadi, and Mubarak Al-Abdullah, which are located in Kuwait, have temperatures that are 1 degree lower.
Ahvaz is the capital of Khuzestan Province, located in the southwestern part of Iran.
The city has about 1.3 million residents. The city covers about 80 square miles.

The city is known as the “Oil Capital of Iran.” The National Iranian Drilling Company, the National Iranian South Oil Fields Company, and the Khuzestan Steel Company each have offices in the city.
Ahvaz posted one of the highest temperatures ever posted. According to USAToday, on June 29, 2017, “The southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz soared to a brutal 129 degrees Thursday, which is Iran’s highest temperature ever recorded.”
