California Hit By Drought And Storms Over And Over Again
Residents of California hardly know what kind of weather to prepare for. It has been the center of a 1200-year drought. In the last two years, the Pacific Coast has been hit by record storms, which brought unprecedented snow and rain. And, the ground has alternated between wildfires and floods.
*Flood And Drought
Inside Climate News states, “Over the past decade, the state has experienced one of its driest periods, its biggest and most destructive wildfires, record-breaking heat waves and catastrophic flooding, as already stressed ecosystems struggled to cope with land use changes and water diversions.”
Florida And Arizona
The climate news site points out that this has caused great expense and confusion about public policy. And, that will only get worse. The violent changes will worsen, and, at some point, certain weather events will overwhelm both the state’s budget and human resources. “Over the past decade, the state has experienced one of its driest periods, its biggest and most destructive wildfires, record-breaking heat waves and catastrophic flooding, as already stressed ecosystems struggled to cope with land use changes and water diversions.”
California is not alone. Other states with similar problems include Arizona, where heat can be over 100 degrees F for 100 days, and Florida, with its violent hurricanes, face similar circumstances.
