Here’s the meal you should miss if you want to help halt Climate Change
A new research report in the journal Nature, “Reducing climate change impacts from the global food system through diet shifts,” examined 140 food products from 139 countries. The primary conclusion was that consumers in the world’s richest countries have diets that harm the climate.

Why Americans Don’t Give Up Beef
These diets are heavy on meat and dairy products, the researchers say, and that “dietary emissions” would drop 17% if meat eaters ate more vegetables and nuts than beef.
The study divides most of the global population into three groups. People who eat animal-based diets are responsible for tremendous emissions, tend to be obese and have health risks due to diet and weight.
The second group is people who cannot afford a healthy diet, which totals about three billion people. The third group is those who suffer from hunger, which numbers about one billion.
Research findings
Among the primary conclusions of the research is that “We find that, compared to plant-based products, animal-based products, particularly red meat and dairy products, exhibit greater potential for reducing both emission volumes and emission disparities among different expenditure groups.”
The research does not say how incomes can be raised enough in nations where people cannot afford better diets, and those who suffer from hunger to change what they eat.
