A new study shows that the level of CO2 is the worst it has been in one million years. It adds that the period may stretch back as far as 33 million years.

“For the first time, the seasonal peak of carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere exceeded 430 parts per million (ppm) at NOAA’s Mauna Loa Observatory on Hawaii, scientists from NOAA and Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego reported today,” authors wrote in a research paper titled. “Annual Carbon Dioxide Report.”

Ralph Keeling, a professor of climate sciences, marine chemistry and geochemistry at UC San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography, remarked to NBC, “The last time the planet had such high levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere was likely more than 30 million years ago, Keeling said, long before humans roamed Earth and during a time when the climate was vastly different.”

Does Anyone Care?

If this is not as large a warning as has been given about the state of the environment, it is hard to imagine what is

Unfortunately, with each new warning, it becomes more and more obvious that most of the world’s nations and polluting industries do not care.
