National Weather Service Staff Crisis Hits as Storms Threaten
Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis 24/7, reported that the National Weather Service is facing severe staffing shortages just as hurricane season ramps up. According to The Washington Post, nearly 600 positions have been cut under the Trump administration, forcing staff to work double shifts, rely on buddy systems, or drop nonessential services. McIntyre stressed that these cuts have left the agency at a breaking point while multiple storms threaten the U.S. coast.
