Phoenix Heatwave: Extreme Temperatures and Rising Risks Amid Prolonged Heat Dome
Phoenix is once again facing extreme heat, with temperatures surpassing 100 degrees due to a persistent heat dome over the southwestern U.S. This unseasonably high heat is causing multiple issues, including an increased risk of wildfires, challenges in finding shelter for those without air conditioning, and overcrowded emergency rooms as heat-related illnesses rise. Last year, over 600 people died from the heat in Phoenix, and with the intense weather likely continuing into September, this year’s death toll could be even higher.
