The wind and storm in the U.S. early this week. AccuWeather says 100 million Americans face risk. That is as much to property as it is to people.

Americans have been focused on the hurricanes that battered the Gulf side of Florida. Then, wildfires buried 16,000 structures in LA and drove thousands of people from their homes. The effects on local businesses are immersable. However, the dent in local GDP is substantial.

Midwest Damage

The damage to the Midwest and South this week is expected to be caused by high winds, hail, and flooding. These storms have been more violent than in many years in the past. After several states were damaged earlier in the Spring, storms will hit from Oklahoma to the East Coast east and west and from the Gulf to as far north as Minnesota.

“A series of low pressure areas moving into and then out of the Midwest through early next week will be the impetus for the successive severe weather risks from the Plains to the Southeast,” said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Chad Merrill.

The waves of dangerous weather in the Midwest are not over. Neither is the damage to locals, businesses, and infrastructures. A lack of FEMA could exacerbate the financial consequences.
