The Drought In California Is Gone

California was supposed to be in a 1,200-year drought–the worst since 800 AD. Wildfires had become a considerable danger. Cities and farms competed for water. Some farmers could not grow crops at all. Lakes began to disappear.

What a difference two years makes. Massive rain and snow storms have partially refilled lakes. Although wildfires have not gone away, they may be less dangerous.
According to The Drought Monitor, California is drought-free. Several states nearby suffer from drought, but only the most modest type based on The Drought Monitor measures. These include Oregon and Nevada. The trend is particularly shocking in Nevada, which was entirely plagued by drought two years ago.

What does this mean for California? Perhaps the most important thing is that the badly crippled agriculture market can recover. The severe drought cost the industry billions of dollars and an untold number of jobs,
Will the trend continue? It depends on which forecast people believe. Some think storms from the Pacific, which start as far west as the Philippines, will continue. Others believe the century-long trend of drought will return because of climate change.
